The moment
What changed, how fast it happened, and where they were standing when they found out.
Shift Happened is a podcast about our relationship with change — and the people who have lived through the big ones. Hosted by Jeff Edwards.
Nobody gets to choose when the ground moves.
We only get to choose what we do next — and that part almost never looks the way we imagined it would.
Every episode is one honest conversation with one person who lived through a shift they didn't ask for. A career that ended overnight. A business that had to become something else. A diagnosis, a move, a marriage, a market that vanished. The moments that split a life into before and after.
No gurus. No five-step frameworks. No pretending the hard part was secretly a gift the whole time. Just the real account of what change costs, what it takes, and what it hands back — from the people who are standing on the other side of it.
What changed, how fast it happened, and where they were standing when they found out.
The long, unglamorous stretch nobody posts about. What they got wrong. Who showed up.
What they know now that they couldn't have known then — and what they'd tell you if you're in it.
I've spent thirty years in technology, building and leading partner sales teams across Fortune 50 companies and startups. After seventeen years at Cisco I left for a security startup — and two years later Cisco acquired us and brought me back. That whiplash taught me the thing I've built a career on since: the urgency of a startup paired with the scale of a giant. An eight-hundred-pound gorilla, up on the balls of its feet.
The second shift was personal. This past year my wife and I left North Carolina for New York — chasing a dream later in life than most people would call sensible. It cracked open every part of our lives: the work, the opportunities, and a marriage that got reinvigorated by the risk of it. Today I'm a partner sales executive in enterprise technology, and I host a business podcast called Shift Happens. Shift Happened with Jeff Edwards is the companion to it — same idea, wider lens. Shift Happens is the business conversation. This one is the human one.
"Every one of these stories is somebody's mirror. Someone out there is in the middle of the same thing, wondering if they're the only one."
We're booking the first season now. You don't need a platform, a book, or a title — you need a real story about a change you didn't choose and what you did with it. Tell us the shortest version and we'll be in touch.
One email when the show launches, then one when each new episode drops — plus the single idea from that conversation worth keeping. That's the whole deal.
